I was talking to my mom the other day about being homesick; how sometimes I get homesick for someone rather than somewhere. Like how home feels like that place on my husband’s shoulder that seems to have been made for my head to lay. How home feels like the smell of my kids’ heads and their hands cradled in mine. Or how home feels like being wrapped in my mama’s arms or the that space next to my dad in his truck. Home is definitely someone more than it is somewhere. But, if you’re lucky, you’ll find that perfect somewhere to share with the someones that you call home.
Getting invited to capture these beautiful humans in the place where they soon will call home was so dreamy. I could almost submerge myself into their hopes and dreams for their future there. We chatted about how they’d fish in that pond. We got to ooh and ahhh over the future window views and watch their little girls run and play in the places they’ll soon make millions of childhood memories. It felt like home. I could see it in their eyes and could feel it in the air. They were home before the home was. How beautiful to bear witness to that magic.
And can I just mention… how blessed are we ?! Sheridan is a damn good place to call home. And an equally good place to be a family photographer.
