FAQ

  • When do Newborn Portrait Sessions take place?

Between 10 -14 days after birth. When a Newborn Portrait Session is booked (usually in the 2nd trimester), the due date is penciled into Emily’s calendar. Once baby arrives, parents must reach out to Emily to make the session appointment.

  • How long do Newborn Portrait Sessions take?

Due to the nature of the session and the needs of a newborn baby, Newborn Portrait Sessions can take anywhere from 1.5- 3.5 hours. Baby is always the boss and will dictate how long your session will take.

  • Do we need to bring anything to our Newborn Portrait Session?

Other than formula and bottles (if your baby is bottle fed), the studio is fully equipped with everything needed for sessions. However, if you have something of sentimental value that you’d like to incorporate into your session, Emily encourages you to bring it along to your session. She will always do her best to include it in the portraits.

  • Can siblings come along?

Of course! All newborn, family, and maternity portrait sessions include parent and sibling shots at no additional charge (up to 6 people). Emily believes that it is important to document the whole family during this time.

  • When do outdoor Family and Maternity Portrait Sessions take place?

On-location outdoor portrait sessions take place within the first 90 minutes after the sun comes up or the last 90 minutes before the sun goes down. This ensures that Emily can utilize the most ideal lighting conditions for your portrait sessions.

  • When will I see my portraits?

Once Emily is finished with your gallery she will get in touch to schedule your gallery reveal. This typically takes place within 30 days of your portrait session.

  • Can we book our session for a weekend?

All studio sessions take place during studio hours, which are Monday – Friday, 8am – 3pm. On-location sessions take place Monday – Friday, during ideal lighting timeframes (see above). Weekend sessions are offered only on special needs basis. Additional fees may occur.

  • What is a “gallery reveal”?

A gallery reveal is a special time when Emily invites you to the studio to present you with your session gallery. You will get to go through your gallery, look at sample products, and place your order all with Emily right by your side, answering any questions and giving you her professional input and guidance on prints, products, sizes, and more. This takes anywhere from 1-2 hours, depending on whether or not there is a baby to snuggle and how much you want to peruse your beautiful gallery. This is a wonderful experience that is loved by all!

  • Does Emily only Serve Sheridan, Wyoming?

  • Does Emily travel for outdoor sessions?

Absolutely! Travel up to 20 miles from Sheridan is included in the standard outdoor session. However, Emily knows that sometimes we have special places that we’d like to have in our portraits. Emily is happy to accommodate that or come to you, wherever you may be. Emily loves to travel and is honored when families from all over the country invite her to come visit! Travel fees apply.
