I had such high hopes for this session… a drive up the mountain to a beautiful little stream, tall pines and gorgeous light, a family picnic, an adorable family… All of these things happened except for one: Gorgeous Light. The sun was full blown and completely sun-shiny on the way up, but the second we arrived the rain clouds moved in and our sun was no more. Total big time bummer. I wanted all of these perfect things for this session for all the obvious reasons, but also because these guys are my friends that I haven gotten to know through my time at Legacy and Concept Z. When I go into a session, I want everything to come together flawlessly. I knew that Kendyl wanted to do this session for a while and I really just wanted to give her those perfectly warm and sunny images. Yet, the sun didn’t happen. BUT… regardless of the fact that the sun didn’t shine, regardless of the fact that it was off and on sprinkling, regardless of the fact that is was freezing, it still turned out incredible. You know why? This family is incredible. The love they have for each other is enough warmth to brighten any scene. Their kids are sweet and fun, the parents adore one another, and their family is happy and easy to be around. With or without the sun, I’d photograph these humans any day.
